The Moon Bracelet:
On Photography and the Artefacts of the Apollo Space Journeys, beyond Science

Project leader: Maria Lantz (2012-2014)

‘I will write and analyze the story of The Moon Bracelet, its charms and the function of this piece of jewellery as a magic object. Furthermore, I want to discuss the story of this object in relation to questions of magic, evidence, the camera and its use on the Apollo expeditions, and the moon. The funny and bizzare story of how the gold charms were smuggled onboard the Apollo-space ships serves as an allegoric story on art and the art world. But also how we, as human beings, have a desire for magic even within science – how truth and belief accompany each other. Key words: magic, aura, trophy.’
